Our Practice
Our friendly administration staff, are available to organise your appointments or help in any way. Our experienced practice nurses assist our GPs with procedures, ECGs, Spirometry tests, INRs, Care Plans and Health Assessments. The surgery is located on the main road in Abermain, with parking at the front of the surgery.

Meet Our
General Practitioners

Dr Saif Alkadhi is a dual trained clinician, Emergency Physician & General Practitioner.
He also holds a Diploma in Child Health from the University of Sydney.
Dr Alkadhi is a VMO Emergency Consultant at Hunter New England Health, and General Practitioner at Abermain Surgery.
Dr Alkadhi is trained in different acute care settings and departments in Sydney and the Hunter region.
His Special interest are all aspect of Emergency Medicine, Chronic disease management, Paediatrics, Aged Care Residents, Skin Cancer Medicine, Cosmetic injectables, Men’s health & Work-related injuries.
Dr Alkadhi is actively involved in training future GPs, & supervises GP registrars at our surgery. Dr Alkadhi was awarded RACGP Supervisor of the year 2021 in NSW.

Dr Al-Azzawi is a FRAGP General Practitioner who joined the surgery in May 2018.
Dr Al-Azzawi has practiced medicine in 3 countries around the world and has been based in the Hunter Region for the past few years.
Her professional interests include a strong emphasis on preventative medicine and all aspects of primary healthcare, including chronic disease management, Women's health, mental health, aged care and paediatrics.
She has a diploma in Child Health and a special interest in Women’s Health and Chronic Disease Management. Is is also certified for IUD insertion and removal.
Dr Al-Azzawi is actively involved in training future GPs, & supervises GP registrars at our surgery.
She is available Tuesday to Friday.

Dr Mansel Ismay
Dr Ismay was trained at the University of NSW obtaining the following degrees: BSc (Med) 1978, MB BS 1980.
Dr Ismay has been a solo GP in the Abermain area for over 35 years. Over this time he has been privileged to treat all generations of patients. He cares for all family medicine and has a special interest in Emergency Medicine, Worker's Compensation & paediatrics.
He is available Monday to Thursday.

Dr Phillipa Lennox
Dr Pip Lennox has returned to Abermain Surgery after completing her GP training & has gained her Fellowship from RACGP.
She is interested in all aspects of Medicine. She is available at Abermain and Gillieston Heights Medical. New patients are welcome.

Dr Viktor Stadnytskyi
He is interested in all aspects of Medicine.
He is a qualified doctor who is training to become a General Practitioner through a period of working and training in a practice. His term in our Surgery will be 6-12 months as part of his training. He is available 5 days a week.

Dr Michael Ryan
Dr Ryan is one of our current GP Registrars in the Surgery.
He is interested in all aspects of Medicine. He is a qualified doctor who is training to become a General Practitioner through a period of working and training in a practice. His term in our Surgery will be 6-12 months as part of his training.2 days a week Thursday and Friday.

Vaccine roll-out information
NSW Health has announced that bookings for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination for people aged 5 years to 11 years. We will have appointments available in the New Year 2022.
We’ve been keeping a close eye on the COVID-19 updates.
To play our part in curbing the spread, the following will apply with immediate effect:
🏠 If you are unwell with flu-like symptoms, please stay home. Get tested at your nearest testing centre, and consult your GP via Telehealth phone or video consult for advice.
🧼 Wash hands regularly and practice strict hand hygiene
💭 Keep within your social bubble, and maintain physical distancing of 1.5m from others
🚊 🚌 In high risk situations, such as when on public transport, visiting vulnerable family members, and/or visiting an aged care facility, please take extra care, and wear a mask!
🙏 Look after each other. We’re all in this together. Many Australians are having a hard time right now and some will not be able to spend time with their loved ones. Take a moment to ask, “are you okay?” and practice small acts of kindness.

Abermain Surgery is committed to keeping our community safe, to do this we are temporarily changing the way we see patients.
Social Isolation Policy
When visiting the practice please ensure to stay 1.5m from other people.
If you are suffering flu-like symptoms DO NOT come into the surgery, please stay at home and call the surgery to have a discussion with staff.
All our GPs are following advice given by the Department of Health and is implementing a mixture of Telehealth (Phone Consultations) and Face to face.
Telehealth consultations changes: Patients are eligible if they attended the practice in the last 12 months. This service is bulk billed to Medicare if Under 15 years old, Concession card holder, or recall appointment. Otherwise standard billings apply.
We are currently limiting exposure to Coronavirus for our patients & staff.
Please be mindful that not all health issues will be able to be managed in a Phone Consultation, if you’re not sure, please phone to speak to one of our staff for advice.
What to expect from the doctor during a Phone or Telehealth Consultation:

The doctor will phone you on the number you’ve provided at the appointment time you booked

Lots of questions might be asked to thoroughly examine your concerns

The doctor will ask you to verbally consent to assigning your Medicare benefit to in order to bulk bill the appointment

How to prepare for a Phone Consultation:

Know which pharmacy you would like your scripts sent to.
